All teenagers in grades 7 through 12 are invited to take part in the Church of the Ascension's Youth Group, which meets every Sunday morning between the two services from about 9:10 to 10:00 in the back portion of the Parish House, located directly east of the church at 45 Laurel Avenue . The emphasis is on education and formation in the Christian faith and tradition, as well as mutual support and encouragement. We draw from various resources for the educational component, including the Journey to Adulthood curriculum. Beyond our Sunday morning time, we schedule many other events and projects; recent examples include a retreat to Camp Stevens in Julian; a trip to Knotts' Berry Farm; a Christmas gift drive for Hillsides Home for Children in Pasadena; serving at the parish's annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper; and a Christmas tree trimming party with an In-N-Out Burger feast and gift exchange. Many of our members also play an important role in the worship life of the parish by serving as acolytes at the 10:15 Eucharist. New members are welcome at all times - just drop in and see us!
