The Choir of Ascension
With an extensive repertory spanning hundreds of years, The Choir performs choral works from 16th to 20th Century English, German, and French Cathedral music through to 20th and 21st Century American music. One might hear Orlando Gibbons or Maurice Duruflé this Sunday, a René Clausen setting of an
African American Spiritual or Cesar Frank’s Psalm 150 next Sunday, or one of the many hymn settings of John Rutter or Mac Wilberg on other Sundays. Several times throughout the year, The Choir is joined by guest professional Brass or String ensembles from the Arts Community.
Join the Choir
Our choir at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension is a very dedicated and marvelous group of singers and choral scholar. We encourage teens, ages 15 to adults, who enjoy music to consider joining the choir as a volunteer and /or choral scholar.
We rehearse every Sunday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am prior to the 10:15 am Rite II ~ Choral Eucharist Service.
During the seasons of High Feast and Holy Days, we will schedule additional rehearsals as needed.
We invite and encourage those who would like to join the Ascension Choir to contact the Organist & Director of Music, Mr. Robert L. Williamson
to schedule an audition.
