Outreach

It is part of the mission of the Church in all places to work for the relief of the poor, the sick, and the powerless. Ascension reaches out to others in a number of ways, through financial support and volunteer efforts at these agencies.
  • The Ecumenical Council of Pasadena Area Churches assists homeless and low income people through its oversight of the Pasadena Bad Weather Shelter program and the Friends In Deed House, which provides groceries and other services.   Monthly in-gatherings of food and the annual Women's Room Thanksgiving luncheon are important parts of Friends In Deed outreach.
  • Episcopal Relief and Development is supported by Ascension's rector, Michael Bamberger, who serves congregations and institutions across the country as they work to recover from disasters. We also hold an annual fundraiser for developing countries through ER&D.
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Heal the Bay Cleanup Day
  • NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families.
  • United Thank Offering provides funding for the worldwide mission of the Episcopal Church.  Ascension holds UTO Sunday in-gatherings twice yearly.
