Worship

Worship is the focus of what brings us together as a community of faith; it also requires the regular efforts of many people, both adults and children, in order to give full voice to our praise of God. At Ascension there are a number of ways in which members may give of themselves to the ministry of our worship life:

Congregational Readers read the Old Testament lessons at 8:00 and 10:15 a.m. Sunday services.
Chalice Bearers assist with the administration of the consecrated wine during communion at both Sunday services.
Acolytes, most often youth and young adults, serve during Sunday services at the altar. They light the candles, lead our processions, swing the incense censor, and ring the sacramental bells.
St. Anne’s Altar Guild manages the maintenance and cleaning of vestments, vessels, and other items used during services, and sets up for every Sunday and weekday service.
The Choir of Ascension offers music in the Anglican tradition at every 10:15 a.m. Sunday Eucharist from September to June, under the direction of Mr. Robert L. Williamson, Organist and Director of Music. Additional information and review of our Music program, please the above Music tab for more information.
Ushers/Greeters assist at both Sunday services by welcoming visitors and presenting the bread and wine for consecration at the altar.
Bread Makers mix and bake our Communion bread.
Wedding Guild arranges all weddings held at Ascension, working directly with the bride and the wedding party.
